Caribbean Prepping for 2021 Racing Season

In 2020 RORC has amended its calendar to make the Middle Sea Race, held off Malta in October, the first race of the season as far as the Seasons Points Championships is concerned. They hope this will have the effect of encouraging more owners to participate in winter adventure sailing and that they include the RORC Transatlantic and RORC 600 in their programme before returning to the UK for the spring.

Moving the race to January will allow boats time to reach Lanzarote from Malta and have the added benefit of more favourable trade winds for the crossing.

Round Barbados Sailing Week has released its Notice of Race. The Mount Gay Round Barbados Race will be held on Thursday 21st January 2021 with Coastal Races will taking place on Friday 22nd January, Saturday 23rd January and Sunday 24th January. See source link below for notice.

Registration is now open for the Caribbean Multihull Challenge, scheduled for 5th - 7th February 2021. This will be the 3rd edition of the fast growing, fast paced sport of multihull racing. See www.smyc.com for details.

As of this date most scheduled races are still on track for 2021 and organisers are working to provide safe racing for all participants. Yachts, skippers and crew are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the protocols of each country they propose to enter and race in.
