Shell Beach Marina

Heading north along this piece of coast is a narrow strip of sand but it is not ideal for any type of sunbathing and the shoreline is quite rocky. The prevailing wind at this exposed northerly side of Antigua means the water is often choppy.

A road from the marina to the airport runs parallel with the beach. The capital St John's, is around five minutes away by car and you will find some restaurants close by.

Winthorpes Bay itself is not suitable for anchoring apart from close to Maiden Island. Between Dickenson Bay and Parham Harbour it is flat water sailing and easier than it looks on the charts. Follow the coast at about a third of a mile off shore.

Compact and bijou: The smallest of marinas in Antigua, Shell Beach Marina is located on the northeast corner close to Maiden Island in Winthorpes Bay.

The marina can accommodate a draft of up to 10' and is mainly suited to motor boats. There is a fuel dock and small store selling basic cold drinks and snacks.
