Nelson's Dockyard
Named after Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, who was stationed here in the late 18th century, it is the oldest working Georgian Dockyard in the World.
As well as a Marina and associated marine business’s housed in the historical buildings, you will find The Copper & Lumber Store Hotel, the Naval Clerks house is now a museum, boutique stores, cafe, bakery, bars and, in what used to be the pitch & tar store, Admirals Inn Hotel.
At the entrance of the harbour is Fort Berkley, originally one of 20 fortifications around the Island in the early 1700’s. You can walk to the end and look back at the Dockyard.
The Dockyard had been the finishing point for the last few years of many Atlantic rowers as well as host venue to regattas, fishing tournaments and the annual Christmas Day party.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site and marina is host to some world renowned yachting events.
Part of the Antigua & Barbuda National Parks Authority, the Dockyard has been sympathetically restored.
